View medications

About this task

The Medications web part displays the following basic information about each medication.
Field Description
Info From The source from where the medication information was retrieved
Name The medication name
Started The date the medication was started
Prescriber The care provider who prescribed the medication
Status One of the following:
  • Current - Medications you are presently using
  • Discontinued - Medications that have been discontinued by your care provider and you are no longer using

Procedure

  1. For Show Records from, select a source from where to display medications.
    • Select Sunrise to view medications stored in your medical record from your healthcare provider.
    • Select Microsoft HealthVault to view medications stored in a personal health record.
  2. For Status, select the status of the medications you want to view.
    • Select Current to view medications that are currently being used.
    • Select Discontinued to view medications that are no longer used.
    • Select All to view both current and discontinued medications.
  3. To view the details for a medication, click the medication name to open Medication Details.

Add medications

Use Medication Details to copy a medication from your patient record to your personal health record, or to add a new medication to a personal health record.

Procedure

  1. To copy a medication from your patient record to your personal health record, click Copy to Microsoft HealthVault.

    The medication is copied from to your personal health record.

  2. To add a new medication to a personal health record, click Add to PHR.

    Medication Details refreshes with blank fields.

  3. Enter the applicable information on Medication Details.
  4. Click Save.

    Medication Details closes and the medication is added to the personal health record.

Update medications

From this site, you can update medication information stored in a personal health record.

Procedure

  1. Click the medication name. Medication Details is displayed.
  2. Update the information for the contact.
  3. Click Save.

    The updated information is saved to your personal health record.

Request a prescription renewal

Using this site to request a renewal for a prescription stored in your patient record.

Procedure

  1. Select the medication.
  2. Click Request Refill.

    Prescription Renewal Request opens.

  3. Select the medication that you want to renew.
  4. Click Next.
  5. For To, select the care provider the request should be sent to and click Next.
  6. Enter the contact information for the pharmacy to send the prescription to be filled and click Next.
  7. Optional: Review your request and add comments.
  8. Click Send Request to send the prescription renewal request to your care provider.

Discontinue medications

If a medication stored in a personal health record is no longer being used, you can use Sunrise Patient Portal™ to designate the medication as discontinued.

About this task

Note: You can only designate medications stored in a personal health record as discontinued. You cannot designate medications in your patient record as discontinued.

Procedure

To discontinue a medication, click Discontinue.

The medication is designated a status of discontinued.

Delete medications

You can use Sunrise Patient Portal™ to delete medications from a personal health record.

About this task

Note: You cannot delete medications from your patient record.

Procedure

  1. To delete a medication from a personal health record, click Delete from PHR.

    A confirmation message is displayed.

  2. Click OK.

    The medication is deleted from the personal health record.

Print medications

Procedure

  1. Select a medication.
  2. Click PDF Print Preview.

    File Download opens.

  3. Click Open.

    A PDF Print Preview window opens, displaying the medication information.

  4. Click Print.

    Print is displayed.

  5. Select the print options and then click OK.

    The medication details are printed.

  6. Close the Print Preview window.

Send a message to a care provider

About this task

If you have a question about one of your appointments, you can send a message to your care provider.

Procedure

  1. Click the Send Message link. The Send a Message window opens.
  2. In the To: drop-down field, select the care provider the message should be sent to and click Next.
  3. Enter the subject and body of the message and click Send Message to send the message to your care provider.
