Patient account management

Use the Manage Accounts page to search for patient accounts, view or update the profile information, or establish or cancel system connections.

Search for a patient account

Procedure

  1. Enter any of the following search criteria:
    • Account user name
    • Last name
    • First name
    • Middle name
    • Email address
    • Phone number
  2. Click Find. Patients matching your search criteria are displayed.
  3. Click a patient's user name to view their account information.

Patient profile information

The Profile section contains the patient's user information. It includes:
  • Account user name
  • Last Name
  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Email
  • Phone

You can update any information in a patient's profile except for the account user name. To make changes to a patient's profile information, update the necessary fields, and then click Save. An email is sent to the patient notifying them of the update to their account.

Patient account connections

The Connections section lists the healthcare organization system and personal health record linked to a patient's account.

You can connect and disconnect a patient's account to your healthcare organization's system.

You can only disconnect a patient's account from their personal health record.

Connect to Your Healthcare Organization's System

When you attempt to connect a patient account to your healthcare organization's system, Sunrise Patient Portal™ searches your system for patient records whose credentials match those of the Sunrise Patient Portal™ account. The credentials that the search is based upon are last name, first name, date of birth, email address, and phone number. Therefore, it is important that the credentials contained in the Sunrise Patient Portal™ account are identical to the credentials stored in the patient record.
Note: If a patient's account information doesn't match your organization's records, you can change the patient's information in the Profile section.

When a matching record is found, it is connected to the Sunrise Patient Portal™ account and the patient's medical information becomes available in Sunrise Patient Portal™.

It is important to remember, although you can use this site to update the information stored in your personal health record, you cannot use it to update the information stored in your patient record.

To connect a patient's account to your healthcare organization's system, click the Connect link for your healthcare organization's system. Sunrise Patient Portal™ searches your organization's system for the patient record that matches the Sunrise Patient Portal™ account credentials.
  • If an exact match is found, the patient's Sunrise Patient Portal™ account is automatically connected. An email is sent to the user notifying them of their account connection.
  • If an exact match is not found, Sunrise Patient Portal™ will display a list of the closest matches. Click the correct patient's name to connect their Sunrise Patient Portal™ account to your organization's system. An email is sent to the user notifying them of their account connection.

Disconnect Patient Accounts

When you disconnect a patient's account from your system or their personal health record, the patient can no longer view their information in Sunrise Patient Portal™. A notification email is also sent to the patient's email address to notify them that their account has been disconnected.

To disconnect a patient account from your healthcare organization's system, click the Disconnect link for your system. The patient's account is disconnected from your healthcare organization's system.

To disconnect a patient's account from their personal health record, click the Disconnect link for the personal health record, and then click OKThe patient's account is disconnected from their personal health record.
